Anyone doubting that race is still an issue in this country needs only to look at a few images from the past several months.This cover of the New Yorker shows exactly what some people's worst fears are. First, Michelle Obama is portrayed as a militant 'black power' figure, and Barack is shown in clothing meant to indicate that he is Muslim.
If you are planning to vote for John McCain, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. Please however, take a brief moment and ask yourself if these kinds of images are affecting your opinion at all - even minutely. No matter how open minded a white American may be, we cannot help but be impacted by the images of white/Christian supremacy that pervade our culture. Racism is a systemic evil that none of us can escape. This kind of image - meant to drive strait to the heart of people's fear - is proof. Racism and religious intolerance are major reasons for many people for voting against Obama.
I hope each of you has reasons to vote for whomever you vote for, that are positive facts about the person you choose; not fear mongering lies about the person you're voting against.

What is going on here? This obliteration has to stop right now before innocent people are killed. We won’t have to worry about the war in Iraq because we will have one going on right here on our own soil.
Because of Joe Wilson’s outrageous comments, he has opened up a floodgate for bigots who are looking for trouble. This can lead to a racial war right here in this country. Whites, Blacks, Hispanic, and other races young, old, rich poor are going to suffer because of this racial abhorrence which will backfire in all our faces.
What kind of example are politicians showing the children in this country on how to behave in the public? Leave it up to some of these bigots they would enjoy hanging Obama on a noose, then dance and cheer around his dead body for his wife, children, and citizens to see. Can you imagine what would happen around the world If Obama was assassinated? I am a Republican and I am embarrassed! STOP THIS madness!!! This behavior is dangerous and getting totally out of control.
